In July, Our Lady of the Lake's Pediatric Residency Program will welcome from medical schools across the country 11 new residents -- the largest incoming class to date -- bringing our total pediatric resident count to 25.
This is a particularly important specialty for us because by 2015, the U.S. Census estimates Louisiana will have 53,445 more children than we did in 2010. We will also welcome our first class of six psychiatric residents. Mental health services continue to be a challenge for many communities and we welcome these new doctors.
