Pediatric Gastroenterology
Digestion and gastrointestinal (GI) problems can be extremely painful for children as well as adults. Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group’s Pediatric Gastroentrerologists are specially trained to treat and diagnose children with digestion and GI issues.
Why does my child need a pediatric gastroenterologist?
Your child's pediatrician may refer your child to a pediatric gastroenterologist to identify and treat digestive tract problems. Pediatric gastroenterologists have the expertise your child needs if they suffer from digestive system, liver, or nutritional problems. Although children are sometimes seen as small adults, their bodies are still growing and require specialized medical treatement. Our pediatric gastroenterologists treat patients from newborn to teenage years. They have built their training and skills around pediatric patients, providing the extensive experience in pediatric gastroenterology you want for your child's physician.
Pediatric gastroenterologists may focus on issues related to your child's physical and emotional development, including age-related social issues. If your pediatrician recommends your child see a pediatric gastroenterologist, have confidence knowing that your child will receive the best possible care the greater Baton Rouge area has to offer.
Common pediatric GI ailments can be related to a number of problems, including:
- Abdominal pain
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Food allergies
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease
- General nutrition problems
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Lactose intolerance
- Liver disease
- Pancreatitis
- Ulcerative Colitis
